Commonwealth Games 2014

Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games

The Opening Ceremony of 2,000 cast members took centre stage in front of a live audience of 60,000 at Celtic Park & watched by 9.4million people.  David Zolkwer, Head of Ceremonies and Artistic Director amongst the creative team made Scotland proud by demonstrating the warmth & party-feel of the host city celebrating the diversity of Scotland with a bold & cheeky “wee” twist from – dancing Tunnock’s Teacakes, a giant nessie monster, Irn Bru Forth Rail Bridge, large tartan kilts to Scottie dog placard bearers.

The Closing Ceremony held at Scotland’s National Stadium, Hampden Park, with a live audience of up to 44,000 with a cast of 1500. The Ceremony led & directed by Mark Murphy with a colourful music festival theme with a line-up of international artists.  The volunteer performers were real city workers of Greater Glasgow that invited the athletes to the party. These Games truly became the Peoples Games.
